WORCESTER, Mass. - Students in Worcester gathered to celebrate the Pan Asian Festival on Sunday at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
The event was a collaboration between all of the Asian affinity organizations at WPI. Those in attendance said it's important to celebrate the school's various cultures, and despite some rain showers in the afternoon, it was a valuable experience for everyone.
"Obviously this is very personal to me and all the other organizers," said Ronit Banerjee. "You can see a decent number of the Asian, Asian-American population here on campus, but generally speaking, we're still a small percent of the student body here at WPI. I think it's really great to be able to come together and share our culture with the rest of campus and shine light on our culture and have other people come and appreciate it."
Student organizations included the Korean Student Association, the Japan Association, the Vietnamese Student Association, the South Asian Student Association and the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers.
